Watercolor Still Life

I painted this little still life the other night in watercolor on Khadi rough paper. Its texture takes washes in an interesting manner creating lots of granulation. The paper sort of resists the paint initially until it gets wetter. I like to glaze in some areas and work wet in wet in others. The sensibilities of water color are so different than oils. I like switching back and forth between the two media. In this particular piece I was inspired by the play between tranparancy, reflection and solid color.

Watercolor is a difficult medium , it is sort of unforgiving but you handle it so well. Good work.
