Cheese Shaker

Copyrighted © 2008 by Linda Warner Constantino - 5" by 7"-oil on gessoboard.

I love this copper cheese shaker but it is always hard to do justice to it in a painting. I wish I could paint more often but teaching college is consuming so once or twice a week has to do it for now.I bought some new fabric for my still lifes that I am looking forward to using. I think I have been in a backround rut for a while. I am using gessoboard and adding some Galkyd Lite to my paints. I am liking it for a change. I think I will always be in search of the perfect brush, though. I would love to hear about other painter's perfect brushes.

Port Royal Beach

Copyrighted © 2008 by Linda Warner Constantino.6"by 6" oil on belgium linen board.

I decided to start painting some square paintings as many plein air painters have done. I am still working with my 3 colors (cadmium yellow lemon, permanent red, and ultramarine blue) plus white. I have to say I am constantly amazed at the color range, especially with the color intensity that can be achieved.Just the other week I painted a cloudy marsh scene with the same palette.

"Veggie Still LIfe"

Oil on linen board. Copyrighted © 2008 by Linda Warner Constantino.Available for $100. Email me if interested.

I am finally back painting as my shoulder mends. My doctor told me painting was good physical therapy!

I wanted to start out simple but this was still challenging with the brussels sprouts and yellow string beans. I used a daylight corrected light was cooler than I am used to. Nonetheless, I am enjoying painting again.

"Southern Clouds" - Sold

The clouds continue to be spectacular down here, something about the South. You can see huge thunderheads like this and have it be sunny and raining at the same time.

"Sunny Hilton Head Marsh" - Sold

Copyrighted © 2007 by Linda Warner Constantino. Oil on Linen on archival board 5"h by 7"w.

It was a crisp, cool morning on Hilton Head. The water in the distance looked like ultramarine blue right out of the tube. The marsh was glowing from the sun. The light changed quickly so I had to paint fast. The time passed in an instant because I was so engrossed. Once again, the best of both worlds: enjoying a beautiful day and painting! Hard to believe that I hopped in my car and when over to work after this.
