It's a cloudy day so I decided to do a still life. I collect Arts and Crafts pottery and I have a lot of little pitchers and pots. I love their colors and shapes. I painted this thinking more abstractly about shapes and colors. I could not resist the Queen Anne cherry for an accent. I am struck by how much tighter this painting is rendered than my landscapes. I think it is the challenge of painting the geometric forms and the fact that I can paint slower not worrying about the light changing. Still I try to paint spots of color without too much blending. As an experiment I used Galykd Lite as a medium just for the heck of it. Not sure how I feel about using it - a bit sticky.

So beautiful!! I love the reflections, and the cherry is literally the "cherry on top"!!!

Very, very nice :) I like all your paintings I've seen so far. I think this is my favorite.

Thanks Vickie,
I am trying to paint every weekday that I can this summer. I have not had a stretch of time like this to focus on painting in quite a while. Last summer I was finishing my MFA and that was a huge distraction.
So I will just see where this takes me.

Stunning. Great reflections of the stripes in the pots. Love that you signed in red to balance the cherry!
