I could not resist these baby eggplants! I played around with the composition a bit because they are so strong in value. Also I finally figured out the light so that you can see more of the value and temperature changes in the eggplants. I do not know what it is about the shape of them, though. I just like them.

Love the eggplants, they have such rich color, and I like the hint of yellow as a background color. Great use of complementary colors.

Thanks Elizabeth!
Not that scale is really evident but when I paint small I look for small things to paint. These baby eggplants drew me in right away.

I liked the challenge of painting the colors in the eggplants. I had a blue green color in place of the yellow ochre color first but when I put the yellow in it changed everything and I liked it so much better.

Thanks for taking the time to look.
I went to your blog and your transition from architecture to painting is coming along nicely. I especially like your painting of apple slices.
