Color and shape are what attract me. Eggplants are such crazy shapes! They are so dark in value that it is challenging to see the nuances of value and color. I am also try in to stay loose and be more economic with my brushstrokes. Before I place a brushstroke, I try to make this my painting mantra (I think Kevin Macpherson said it on one of his books):"Is it warm or is it cool; is it light or is it dark?"

Nice complimentary colors. Or is it complementary? Anyway, the deep eggplant color next to the deep ochre really works and makes this very lively! Nice job.
