"Community Garden"- Sold

I guess you could say I am "garden hopping" these days. This is a community garden located in Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island. There are lots of small plots packed with vegetables and wildflowers and enclosed by an electric fence becasue the deer are rather ferocious down here.

This was another view that required a lot of visual sorting.Since I started painting at 7 am the sun was casting a long golden light across the gardens.

I was re-reading Lanscape Painting Inside & Out by Kevin Macpershon and found this quote that sums up my feelings about small plein air painting,"Loose painterly painting is by no means sloppy. On the contrary, it involves selectivity and an underlying excellence in drawing. A painterly stroke reduces many details to a poetic brush mark that expresses more with less. Objects are revealed with spots of color. The quick application of paint is largely due to to the speed necessary to capture fast-changing outdoor conditions."

I am very excited to announce that plans are underway for me to teach a plein air painting workshop this summer in Tuscany outside of Siena, Italy. It will take place on a stunningly beautiful and rustic working organic farm from July 20 through 26.

Class size will be limited to 10 people and we will paint on site in the small format like I do for this blog. We will paint in the early morning and late afternoon with critiques after lunch. I will be posting details as things firm up. If you are interested pleas e-mail me.

"Pinckney Island Palmetto" - Sold at Evening of the Arts Fundraiser

© 2007 Linda Warner Constantino. Oil on linen board 9"w by 12"h. Available at Island School Council for the Arts "Evening of the Art" Fundraiser for Arts Education.

"An Evening of the Arts" annual fundraiser held on Hilton Head Island, SC has been going on for the past 36 years. I have participated for at least the past 15 years. It supports a cause dear to my heart, arts education. It is being held October 6 at the Crown Plaza Resort. When their site gets up I will provide a link.

I liked this tree because it was kind of disheveled and not the usual perfect palmetto especially with with the one yellowish leaf sticking out. Also being the green fanatic that I am, I was challenged by the colors.
